Q+A_2025_DEC_26.txt

> happy holidays from us to you in the void that is the very end of the year
> many things actually coming, we suggest you keep a close eye
> and now, for the final time this year, we answer your questions ! but this time on a blog (how exciting)

> what inspires you ?

> [julia] aqua tofana, daydreaming, dogs in hot cars, loyalty to the point of weakness, powerlines, the omnipresent internet, frission, apocalypses
> [ellie] yvette young, laura marling, permanent daylight

> how did you meet ?

> [julia] in the band's early stages, we initially met patrick in college and thought he was cool and in 2023 he ended up joining as our drummer via a lengthy string of coincidences and the rest is history - ellie lived with a good friend in uni and we had recently parted ways with our original guitarist so needed a new one at the end of 2023 and he said she was cool and he was right (thanks brodey), she is very cool and so labyrinthine oceans fully formed and now we're making music all over the place together which is also very cool
> [ellie] a long and complicated string of coincidences
> [patrick] as per above

> what did you listen to when you were younger ?

> [julia] my dad was a drummer in space rock bands so i grew up around a lot of that (hawkwind, ozric tentacles, gong) and my mam is a huge music person too (though more jazz and classic rock inclined) so music was just always on in the house via their combined incredibly large record collection, as well as having the bends and nevermind on the car stereo every time i was in the car by my demands. i hear the beatles, led zeppelin, black sabbath, deep purple, queen and many more constantly in our house, literally cannot recall the last time we didn't have music on somewhere. i also had a really intense elvis phase when i was about 4.
> [ellie] listened to REM, oasis, RHCP, foo fighters with my dad then got into math rock through my guitar teacher showing me a video of yvette young when I was about 10 and then I basically only ever played guitar like that forever
> [patrick] biffy clyro, mastodon, tool, ben folds, flyleaf

> what's your writing process ?

> [julia] usually a line pops into my head and i rush to write it down and and then it quite quickly becomes a page of unconnected sentences which i then rearrange to some chords i have pocketed from a previous idea session or that fit the vibe i'm getting. i then try and get a rough melody going and then attach the lyrics onto the melody, demo it and send to the guys and then we all work on it together from there. this usually happens at around 1 or 2 am which doesn't help it's chaotic nature nor my terrible sleep schedule
> [ellie] i just play a lot of guitar and occasionally something sticks. i usually take an acoustic and play in the woods or the sea if something isn’t coming to me
> [patrick] signal lost.

> do you still like horses ?

> [julia] they're very cool but i still find them inherently deceitful and also recently found out you can put your hands up their noses and they don't care which has slightly freaked me out
> [ellie] i love horses i always have. i hope to have a horse some day and maybe a donkey. they are great
> [patrick] i never did. they're way too big

> fav lyrics from clipped wings ?

> [julia] (and) I'm lucky to be someone. someone to be left out there in a hot car, leather scorching skin.
> [ellie] bird is out the cage despite it's clipped wings, closes eyes.
> [patrick] (and) I'm lucky to be someone. someone to be left out there in a hot car, leather scorching skin.

> what game would you want your music in ?

> [julia] some kind of survival horror like silent hill or resident evil
> [ellie] mario kart because i’m so good at it
> [patrick] signal lost.

> we sincerely hope that you got the answers you needed
> love you

And I heard, as it were, the noise of thunder: one of the four beasts saying “come and see”, and I saw, and behold a pale white horse. And his name that
